After fifteen seasons guiding in Chamonix, Silvia switched from commercial alpinism to long-distance ski touring — and hasn't looked at a chairlift since. Last February she completed a solo 12-day traverse of the Haute Route, unsupported, in conditions that closed the pass to guided groups.
